Man who was wongly convicted of murder for 20 years, found dead in a car
A North Carolina man, Darryl Hunt who spent 19 years in prison for a murder he did not commit, was found dead in a car in Winston-Salem on Sunday, the Charlotte Observer reports.
In 1984 at age 19, Hunt was charged with the rape and murder of a newspaper copy editor but was later exonerated in February 2004, after DNA evidence showed he was innocent and led police to Willard Brown, who later confessed to the murder.
After he was exonerated, he was granted a pardon by the Governor and awarded a settlement of more than $1.6 million in 2007.
After he was released, Hunt still had nightmares about his time in jail and the fact that he was wrongly accused for a crime he didn't commit. Due to that, he went to the ATM every day, not necessarily to get money but just so that he could prove where he was at anytime of the day in case he was wrongfully accused again of another crime.
Hunt then went on to found the Darryl Hunt Project for Freedom and Justice, which is an advocacy group for those wrongfully convicted and travelled across North Carolina, his home state, with People of Faith Against Death Penalty to speak about abolishing the death penalty and improving the justice system.
Hunt had recently been diagnosed of cancer but he didn't let that stop him from accomplishing what he wanted to do.
Early Sunday morning, the police were called about a person believed to be dead in a car near a University campus. When they got there, they found Hunt unresponsive.
A cause of death has not been released.

Police Killed In Maryland After Gunman Opens Fire
A gunman opened fire outside a police station in a Maryland suburb of Washington on Sunday afternoon, setting off a shootout in which one officer was killed.
Two suspects were in custody on Sunday night in connection with the attack in Landover, Md. The authorities identified the officer killed as Jacai Colson, 28, a four-year veteran of the Prince George’s County police force.
One of the suspects was believed to be the gunman, who the police said was struck during the gunfight and was in custody at a hospital. The second suspect was brought in for questioning. Charges were pending on Sunday night, the police said.
The gunman fired on the station around 4:30 p.m. Officer Colson returned fire but was fatally shot, the police said in a statement. The department described the shooting as an “ambush” and an “unprovoked attack.”
“This man launched an attack on a police station and engaged several Prince George’s County police officers in a gunfight to which they responded heroically,” Henry P. Stawinski III, the chief of the county Police Department, said at a news conference on Sunday night outside Prince George’s Hospital Center.
The chief said Officer Colson “immediately stepped into action,” adding, “I am very proud of him.”
Lascelles Grant, who lives next to the station, told The Washington Post that she and her baby hid in her bathroom when the gunfire began. She said she looked out her window and saw a man dressed in black firing a handgun at the station.
“He fired one shot, and then he started pacing back and forth, then fired another shot,” Ms. Grant told The Post.
John Teletchea, the president of the local Fraternal Order of Police, told reporters that Officer Colson was “a real cop’s cop” who had been “a very close friend.”
“Jacai had an infectious smile,” he said. “He lit up a room. He was a tremendous personality that made everybody smile and wanted to be everything to everybody.”
Officer Colson, who was assigned to the Narcotic Enforcement Division, would have celebrated his 29th birthday this week, the department said.
Gov. Larry Hogan of Maryland said in a statement on Facebook that flags in the state would fly at half-staff in honor of Officer Colson.
“It is my hope that his proud legacy of commitment and passion for law enforcement and serving others will provide some comfort in the difficult days that lie ahead,” the governor said.
Both suspects were taken into custody before 7 p.m. The police said that they did not believe there were more suspects, but said that the investigation was in its early stages. They said the gunman’s motive was not yet known.
The shooting occurred outside the department’s District 3 station, which it said was next to department headquarters, about 10 miles from downtown Washington.
The sudden burst of gunfire led the authorities at 5 p.m. to urge residents in nearby neighborhoods to take shelter. The order was lifted shortly after 7:30, the police said.

Pictured! Adulterous Mother Of 3 Dies In Lover’s House
An official of the Lagos State University, Samuel Ambe, has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing his lover, Mata Jidonu.
Thirty-two-year-old Mata was married to a lawyer, Sunday Jidonu, for whom she had three children.
It was learnt that the suspect worked at the Department of Works and Physical Planning of the university.
Punch Metro gathered that Mata, who lived in the Agric area of Ikogazebba, Badagry, had left home around 3pm on February 15, saying she was going to buy foodstuffs in the market, but reportedly headed for the lover’s house, a few kilometres away.
Her husband, Sunday, who had returned from the court earlier that day as a result of illness, became apprehensive when she did not return on time.
He said, “I came back from the court that day around 2pm because I was ill. On getting home, I found out that my wife was dressed up, ready to go out. I told her to prepare coffee for me because that it is what I normally take in the afternoon. She said I had been taking too much coffee and advised me to eat eba that was already prepared.
“She put the stew on fire while she went to pick our last child, Laura, from the school. I told her to help me buy drugs along the road. The same motorcyclist that took her to and from the school waited for her outside and took her again supposedly to the market to buy beans.
“I slept after taking the drugs. Laura woke me up around 5pm and I asked his brother where their mother was. I called her number but it did not go through. I called her mother, our church and the centre, where she was doing a post-literacy study; they all said she was not with them.”
Sunday said he became more worried when it was 9pm and Mata did not come home. He added that he could not sleep conveniently till the following day when he reported at the Badagry Police Division.
“I was at the station, when the head of the vigilante group in our community called me on the telephone that my wife had been found dead in a bush path. When I got to the scene, a crowd had gathered and policemen from Ado-Odo Ota, Ogun State, had arrived to pick her corpse. She was strangled and stabbed in the leg. Her private parts’ hairs had been shaved off,” he added.
The lawyer told our correspondent that the nature of Mata’s death prompted him to talk to people living around the area, saying that he was told she used to go to the suspect’s home regularly and was there on February 15.
He said he gave the information to the police, leading to Ambe’s arrest.
He said, “I was told that my wife had been sighted with Ambe on several occasions at his second house and that she entered the building on the day the incident happened. He is a non-teaching staff member at LASU. His family members do not live with him in that house. I reported to the police and eight days later, he was arrested.
“As we were going to the station in a police van, he called somebody on the telephone, telling the person in Egun language that the fat woman had been traced to his house. He did not know that I understand the language.”
Punch Metro learnt that Ambe’s phones were consequently seized and upon dialing the deceased’s number on one of the phones, it showed ‘D@M’ as the identity of the caller.
“The call logs we got from the MTN office revealed that he had been calling my wife every day since February 1. It was discovered that he had called her twice on February 15, the day she did not come back home,” he added.
It was learnt that the police recovered some charms from the suspect’s house, while bloodstains were found on the wall of the building
Sunday said, “He (Ambe) begged me to forgive him. He said he was not the one who killed my wife and that he was only dating her.
“But there are enough indications for me to believe that he is behind the death of my wife. Since then, some elders in the community have been threatening me to let go of the matter. I have also been noticing strange movements around my house.”
Confirming the incident via a text message, the Ogun State Police spokesperson, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, said the command had enough evidence to prosecute the suspect, adding that he would be charged to court.

Wendy Williams shares story of when her son caught her giving her husband a "favour.."
Favour as in better wife behaviour! *cough*. She told talk show host, Conan O’Brien, all about it
"If you walk in on me and my husband, you’re gonna get a surprise. I’ll just tell you this. [my son] got a surprise and he will never do that again. He walked in on me giving my husband a favor, at 2 o’clock in the morning. He forgot to clear his throat and stomp.”
“He didn’t hear anything, and he saw the TV. And then he looked, and what do you think we did? Continued!”
“[The next morning] He was going out with some of his friends and I usually, we leave the house with a hug and a kiss. We hugged, but he wouldn’t kiss me. He wouldn’t kiss me, Conan.”
“We’ve never had the conversation about it. In my mind, if we ever do have it, I'm gonna lead with, ‘Well, at least your mother and father love each other, which is more than I can say for some of the kids that you’re growing up with. So enjoy that.’”Watch video below...
Meet the toddler who eats paint, carpet, washing powder, bugs, stones, plastics and more
“If she could, she would eat everything. I’m always worried about what she’ll try to eat next. Everything goes to her mouth.
“Sometimes, I have to put my fingers in her mouth and hook the food out to stop her choking.
“You literally can’t take your eyes off her for a minute so our house never shuts down.”
According to the mum, as she gets older, her interest in normal food has drastically reduced and she only eats foods of a particular colour and texture - like potato waffles, fish fingers and chicken burgers.
Catherine said:
“It started with her picking up and eating small items of fluff and paper, any bits she could find from the floor.
“Then her cravings became more and more intense. We can’t have anything on the walls like displays or paintings because she’ll eat them.
“Lilly can’t do any drawing or crafts because Maddie will eat the pencils and paints.
“I literally have to hide anything dangerous. We have child locks but she’s very clever and susses them out.
“Yesterday she ate a whole pack of chalks when I wasn’t looking, but her favourites are Play-Doh, sand and dirt.”
“I can’t go anywhere with her - not even to a cafe or the supermarket," said Catherine.
“Our flat is so small, there isn’t space to even use the sensory equipment we have been funded which would really help Maddie.
“It’s hard because due to her condition she can’t go outside much either. She needs to be safe because of her complex needs so to have somewhere where she could have the space to play and Lilly could rest too, would be a dream come true.
“Nothing in our life is normal, every aspect is affected and it’s very tough on Lilly too.
“Every day is a struggle but she’s worth it. Maddie is such a character.
“I feel really lucky because she is so quirky and different. I love her so much.”

Nigerians complaining of hardship are PDP loyalists –Ngige
Minister of Labor and Employment, Chris Ngige, says Nigerians who are complaining of hardship in this present administration are PDP loyalists. According to Ngige, this government which will be marking it's first anniversary on May 29th, is working towards the betterment of Nigerians. He said this in a recent interview with The Sun
"I don’t know what you mean by hardship and those you call Nigerians. Are they the federal civil servants getting their monthly salaries as and when due? We don’t owe them, not even allowances and there is no reason they should be unhappy with the APC government. Are the okada riders among those complaining when they are making brisk businesses or the graduates we will soon address their problem of unemployment after the passage of the budget? Unemployment is the harbinger of Boko Haramism, harbinger of IPOBism, OPCism and militancy in the Niger Delta. It is a scourge and serious disease condition that we must fight and that is why we are in this ministry and government. We have job creation programmes under the supervision of the Vice President and other inter-ministerial ones that will be rolled out very soon. By the time we roll out, more funds will be put into the economy. Let us warn that the funds are not for stealing. The only difference between APC and PDP is the stealing of the lots of floating funds. Many of the elite were grabbing these floating funds and they are the ones protesting that they are not happy with the present government. Those complaining especially the elite are members or loyalists of the PDP. We are not bothered because we are going to continue with our common-people’s programme and I want to assure that the tide will soon change. So, we are waiting for the budget. Don’t forget that we are not the ones that appropriate funds but the National Assembly. We have given them budget, done some alterations and amendments as needs be in areas where some people try to mutilate and we are waiting for now. Once they approve the budget as proposed, we roll out our programmes"he said.
